"Secondary One Newcomers do not know phonics, which makes learning in English difficult", commented two former principals of an EMI secondary school. In fact, many students in Hong Kong have not been taught phonics systematically at the primary level.
The author of this book, Wai Wai-ying, with her experience in teaching phonics in the primary, conducted a crash phonics course for the S1 newcomers of the aformentioned EMI school in 2018 and 2019.
